• Certification Details
• BLS ACLS required
• Common diagnosis/Types of patients include COVID, respiratory issues, GI, diabetics, tele, TIA, CVA, as well as general, orthopedic and spinal surgical patients
  • Job Requirements
  • Experience with reading basic telemetry strips
  • Some experience with general and orthopedic surgical patients
  • Experience with CVA and TIA patients
  • Cerner system experience is recommended
    • Schedule Information
    • Shifts are 12 hours, 7-730 with a 30 min unpaid lunch
    • Schedules are made for 4 weeks
    • Self-scheduling is used but not final until the manager balances
    • 2 weekends per 4-week schedule
    • For Christmas, New Years, and Thanksgiving, the nurse should work 2 days and 1 eve or 2 eves and a day
      • Unit Specific Information
      • Ratios are 1:5
      • Nurse Aides on unit with ratios of 1:10-15
      • RN's are not required to titrate drips
      • Set rate drips include Diltiazem at a set rate
      • Tele/Monitor Techs are present. RN's required to interpret strips and sign at least once a shift
      • The charge nurse or house supervisor on duty, charge does not take a patient assignment
      • RT/Equipment includes Bipap, Cpap, high flow, and some breathing treatments
      • Unit/Department Specific Orientation: 1 Shift of orientation on the unit
        • Additional Details
        • No call or standby requirements
        • Floating may be to East Campus, and possibly PCU if qualified
        • Navy blue scrubs as dress code
