Specializes and/or assumes responsibility for a specific section of the laboratory.Reports to: Laboratory Manager and DirectorFLSA: -Non-exempt -Minimum Qualifications:Minimum Education
Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science
OR Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological science
OR Bachelor's degree in another discipline with documented chemistry and biology hours that satisfy CLIA requirements for high complexity testing personnel.

OR

Have previously qualified or could have qualified as a technologist under - 493.1489;
(4) On or before April 24, 1995 be a high school graduate or equivalent and have either -
(i) Graduated from a medical laboratory or clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by ABHES, CAHEA, or other organization approved by HHS; or
(ii) Successfully completed an official U.S. military medical laboratory procedures training course of at least 50 weeks duration and have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician). - -Minimum Work Experience
--- Two (2) years' experience working as an MT required.
--- Six (6) months hospital setting experience working as an MLS in specialty area highly preferred.
- -Required Skills
Medical Laboratory Scientist certification by ASCP or AMT, or HEW(MT), or equivalent certification is required. Training/Certification prior to 1988 -Certification program or Military training, ASCP or HEW certification is accepted.

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
