the PositionThe Senior Database Administrator functions as a
technical lead overseeing the architectural design, development,
implementation, maintenance support, and management of complex data
service systems, including the design and management of data
warehouse and databases using database platform tools and systems,
such as Microsoft SQL Server, Power BI, and other Microsoft suite
of data products and Power Platform capabilities. This position
provides technical solutions, expertise, guidance, and direction to
database administrators, database developers, data analysts, report
writers, and IT executive management on a broad range of complex

- Four years of experience in an information technology role that
involves responsibility, accountability, and hands-on experience
with database and data warehousing architecture, design,
development, and implementation, and includes reviewing and
managing complex information technology projects using Microsoft
suite of data products and Power Platform
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology,
or a closely related field
- An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or
job-related experience may substitute for the required education on

- Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information
Systems, or a related field
- Experience in database, data warehousing, and business
intelligence architect roles
- Experience building databases, data warehouses, and business
intelligence solutions, including high availability and disaster
recovery with the Microsoft technology stack using the best

Platform
- Proven experience with Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, Stored

- Formulate data and metadata policies and procedures for

the data model, ensuring compliance with organization data
standards
- Administer technical troubleshooting and integration of new
technology or new capabilities into the metadata and data standards
and structures and complete assessment of the technical
specifications of proposals and alternatives recommended to
optimize database performance
- Develop a logical/physical database design by applying data
design standards and guidelines
- Develop and facilitate the resolution of data-related project
issues
- Create and propose technical design documentation, including
database design models, specifications, and diagrams, to provide
direction to development teams on the physical implementation of
the data model
- Create and maintain documentation related to data
configuration, mapping, standards, and processes
- Build processes supporting data transformation, data
structures, metadata, dependencies, and model management
- Design, develop, and test data migration solutions as
needed
- Assist in the design of databases and data warehouses to ensure
interoperability with BI solutions
- Monitor emerging data warehouse technologies and recommend
applications appropriate to the organization's environment and its
users to ensure the data warehousing solution remains current
- Design and deliver end-user training and training materials;
provide technical support as necessary
- Develop and present conceptual and functional innovation
prototypes for assessment and evaluation
- Shape the strategy, architecture, methodology, and standards
for delivering business intelligence and data visualization
solutions.
- Plan, prepare, define, structure, develop, and implement
complex database systems
- Manage data integrity, security, availability, and
recoverability to ensure optimal performance
- Participate in multiple, technically complex, mission-critical,
and/or high-profile data projects or initiatives
- Partner with internal customers to conceptualize new projects;
recommend technical resources and strategies, and design project
requirements
- Conduct detailed reviews of all major development projects
undertaken by information technology functions within CHS, within
the area of expertise, or as requested by management
- Identify opportunities to re-engineer business practices to
enhance CHS's information technology strategies and plans
- Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge in emerging technologies,
methodologies, and best practices to enhance the enterprise's image
as a first-class organization
- Provide expertise regarding the integration of applications
across the business
- Determine specifications; plan, design, and develop complex and
business-critical data solutions individually or in partnership
with the project team
- Act as an evangelist for BI benefits across the organization;
promote BI usage to relevant departments
- Provides expert-level support for the most difficult support
problems; resolves unique or non-routine data and BI problems
- Analyze short and long-term strategic data or BI/reporting
problems and develop solutions
- Ensure CHS adherence to all County data compliance
regulations
