Job Title: Surgical Tech Job Specialty: OR (Operating Room) Tech Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Evenings 10:30 AM - 11:00 PM call (5-6 call shifts per 8 weeks) Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Not required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: Travel experience, a minimum of 2 full years of experience Job Description: - Operate in a unit with 9 OR suites. - Handle 40 cases per day, with 70% outpatient and a 20% add-on rate. - Provide support for heavy ortho, general surgery, gyn, robotics, and uncomplicated ENT cases. - No cardiac or vascular cases involved. - Participate in outpatient cases like ENT, hernia, and gyn. - Assist in outpatient pediatric cases, mostly tubes, and tonsils. - C-sections are managed in the L&D area. - Weekend requirement includes managing 15-20 cases on Saturdays. - Required to take 5-6 call shifts in a 6-week period. - Must adhere to a 3-day, on-the-job orientation. - Required to have BLS certification for CSTs and Sterile Processing Techs. - Sterile Processing Techs will process, decontaminate, and pack trays with 2-5 years of strong experience required. - Charting system used: Cerner - Charge Nurse oversees OR, PACU, PreOp, and Endo. - Hospital may cancel up to 3 times per contract, either a full shift or part of a shift. - Scrub color is provided, and both RT and pharmacy are available 24/7. - Shifts vary with a high need during the night (8, 10, and 12 hours); start times: 6:00 AM, 10:30 AM, 2:30 PM. - Not suitable for first-time travelers or nurses with no EMR experience. - Floating is not required.
